Alice Bessie Smith-Clark at the age of 83 passed away peacefully at St. Barnabas Hospital on June 13, 2023. She was born on October 13, 1939 to the late Jesse B. and Bessie Smith who preceded her in death.
She attended public school in Halifax County, North Carolina until moving to New York City. She retired from Washington Garters in Brooklyn, New York. She loved to read all sorts of books, but her favorite book was the Bible. She read the Bible daily. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially the grandchildren there was a special place in her heart for them. Alice was a great cook and a person of strong faith.
She is preceded in death by her brother, John E. Smith; sisters, Lillie L. Smith-Parker, Jessie Smith-Townsend, Annie Smith-Moore, and Esther Smith-Parker.
Alice is survived by her sons, Barrett Smith of East Orange, New Jersey, Frederick Clark (Sheryl) of Andorra, Pennsylvania, Deborah Clark of Brooklyn, New York, and Rodney Clark of Bronx, New York; brother, Oscar D. Smith of Harlem, New York; six grandchildren; great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives, family members, and friends.
