Anselmo Ballantine, Jr Obituary

Anselmo Ballantine, Jr. was born on January 1, 1942, in Fredricksted, Virgin Island to the proud parents of Anita Ferris and Anselmo Ballantine Sr.

He attended the School System in the Virgin Islands. He later relocated to the States and received his GED at the University State of New York and later went on to graduate from Baruch College with his Bachelor’s Degree. He met his soul mate and they were married on March 29, 1969 and together had five beautiful children. He attended Middletown Seven Day Adventist Church of Greater New York and was Baptized on September 14, 1985. He worked at Walbaums Supermarket where he retired as Manager.  Anselmo was an AD Monitor for the Board of Elections since February 2005.  He was very involved with the elections trying to get people to register and vote. Anytime there was any type of election you can be assured that he did above and beyond to get people to understand how important your vote is.

Anselmo loved all animals; dogs, birds, cats, snakes, horses, turtles, gerbils, you name it he either had one at one time in his life or had some sort of interaction with one. He was a lover of Baseball and Fishing. The Mets and Knicks were his favorite teams. He also enjoyed playing Chess and Dominoes because he liked stimulating his mind.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Velinda Ballantine; siblings, Asta Lang, Maude Akins, Melvin Warner, Sr., Lloyd Clarke, Dennis Cornelius, Sr., Milton Clarke, Sr., George Ballantine, Anselmo Ballantine III, Camille Sackey, Sr.; uncle, John Lewis; and niece, Liana Claxton.

Anselmo is survived by his wife, Hattie Ballantine; five children, Valencia White (Windslow Lanye), Delvin  Ballantine (Chanea Allen-Ballantine), Sherise Ballantine-Smith (Andre Smith Sr.), Cynthia Ballantine, and Zelvin Ballantine (Erica Murray Ballantine); fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Christopher Ballantine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his snake, Selmo; and close friends.
