Betty Jackson Obituary

Obituary

Betty Jackson was sent from Heaven on July 5, 1940 and returned to her Lord on April 18, 2023.

Betty Jackson was born to the proud parents of John and Ruth Jackson. Within that union they produced eight beautiful children: Queen Esther, Beatrice, Donald, John, Jr., Dorothy, Betty, James and Howard.

She was educated in the Tuskegee, Alabama school system and moved to New York during her later teens. There she met Mack McGowan, Sr. and they had ten beautiful children, Cindy McGowan, Sharon McGowan, Mack McGowan, Jr., Chandra Weaver, Lorenzo McGowan, Maxine Harris, Serena Jackson and John Jackson.

Betty was predeceased by her two sons, Mark Jackson and Nathaniel McGowan.

She was loved by everyone and became a mother to everyone that she met. She was known for her fashionable style, fried chicken, sweet potato pies, brownies and cakes. She was also known for her warm loving home and welcoming manner.

She loved God dearly and was a member of Charles L Green Ministry. She loved her church family very much and loved, loved, loved to praise the Lord. Betty Jackson’s loved the song “My Living Shall Not Be In Vain”. She sang it all the time and her living was definitely not in vain.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories her children, Cindy, Sharon, Mack, Chandra, Lorenzo, Maxine, Serena and John; two son-in-law’s, Isaac Weaver and Calvin Harris; 16 grandchildren, Marvin, Tyisha, Bryan, Phil, Sharine, Deron, Kandisha, Lorenda, Amber, Nadia, Quantasia, Lorenzo Jr., Janelle, Adonis, Shyima, and Serene; along with a host of beloved great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, one beautiful sister, Dorothy Williams; nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Tributes To Our Mother

Lorenzo McGowan - My mom was very sweet, down to earth and very funny in her own way. She would give you the shirt off back. She will always be in my heart and I will always love her.

Chandra Weaver - Our beautiful mother was the best of the best of all mothers, to know her was to lover her. She was a God fearing woman that loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul. Everyone that she encountered, she talked about the Lord and tried to get them to come to church. Our mother was loved by many. She was not only our mother, but it seemed like everyone that she encountered, she became a mother figure to them. Our beautiful mother will surely be missed by us and many others. We love you Mother.

Sharon McGowan- Thank God for blessing us with such a beautiful loving Mom. She was an excellent example of God’s grace and love. She God, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, everyone.

Serena Jackson – God gave us a start that radiated love. She spoke Jesus with great power, but she was as gentle as a dove. This power changed the lives of addicts and those who suffered trauma. This power brought peace where there was shame, everlasting in our hearts. This love legacy shall remain.

Maxine Harris – My Mom is the Epitome of Love 1 Corinthians 13:4-78 (NIV)(4) Love is patient, Love is kind it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
