Jolena “Jo” Graves was born on January 8, 1957 to the late Shirley Charles and Lynn Williamson. She was the youngest of her five siblings.
Jolena attended elementary, junior high, and high school graduating all within the New York City public school system. She was a Home Health Aide until her sickness would not permit her to work anymore. You would see Jolena outside, sitting on the bench drinking her coffee in front of the residence in which she lived for over 30 years. She had an infectious smile that would light up the darkest room. She loved attending family gatherings during the holidays and playing dollar-dollar which is also known as “Pitty Pat”. She would often win all of the money.
Jolena is preceded in death by her lifelong partner, Pedro; brother, Gerald; sisters, Lavern, Nadine, and Sharon; nephew, James “JJ”; and niece Jakira “BooBah.
Jolena leaves to mourn her last sibling, Sheila; daughter, Terena; grandson, Nathaniel who affectionately called her “Mama Jo”; great-nephew, “LT”; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and both great and great-great nieces and nephews; special friends that she loved dearly, Bernice, Carmen, Ro “Punk”, and Jessie.
Take your rest Aunt Jo! You will truly be missed.
