Josephus Wynn Obituary

Josephus Guy Wynn was born on September 27, 1951 in Tallahassee, Florida in a house at 1637 Alberta Drive to the late Elmer Carquitt Wynn and Eleanor L. Wynn. He departed this life after battling a long illness for six years. He was the third child born out of five siblings to move from Florida to New York City at the age of five.

“Ceasar”, as his close relatives and associates would call him, went to Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, New York where he honed in on many of his natural talents such as drawing and playing musical instruments. He played the electric guitar and drums. His taste for dressing was also exquisite, which made those blessed to be in his presence comment often.

Joe worked on the Staten Island Ferry for seven years until he found employment at a job that allowed him to travel to different states and then relocated back to Florida to care for his mother until her death. He then moved back to New York to spend the rest of his days with the love of his life and life partner, Bernice with whom he had been with for almost fifty years and from that union four children were produced.

To know Joe is to know that he was an adventurer in his own right. He also had a unique style of cooking, he could take anything and make it taste good. His outlandish humor could make even the meanest person smile.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Regina Wynn and brother, Elmer Carquitt Wynn, Jr.

Joe leaves to celebrate his life and loving legacy one son, Vone (Andrea); daughters, Venice, Angelic and Keymah; partner in life Bernice; sister, Veronica Harris; best friend, brother and partner, Bernard Wynn; grandchildren, Javon, Chakiya, Nasir, Diahvion, Jaiquan, Genesis, Jacob, Ashanti, Loyal and Javone; fourteen nieces and nephews, Tasha, Keisha, Kimberly, Shawdita, Tylesha, Elizabeth, Lisa, Akeba, Raven, Bernard, Rashawn, Keith, Tylique, Sterling and Billy and a host of grand nieces, nephews and associates.
