Laura May Brown 82, succumbed to her illness of heart and respiratory failure on Sunday, November 29th, 2020 at Bronx Care Hospital. She was born on October 1st, 1938 in New York, NY to Herschel Walker and Mildred Jones. Laura was an only child within that union and was raised by her grandmother for many years until she gave birth to her first child Renee' Y. Jones at the age of 16, and it was only then she no longer felt alone.

Despite the struggle of having a child at a young age she graduated High school at the age of 18 with honors. Following graduation, she met, fell in love, and married her then love Cortez Carter at the age of 19. Within that union they had four children Philip Jones, Shirlene Carter, Geffery and Gerald Carter who were twins. Sadly, at the birth of the twins, Gerald passed away. It was not long after, that union ended in divorce. Laura was a loyal Postal Woman working for the United States Postal Service and a respected member of the Eastern Stars and Elks Organizations until she relocated to another borough and was unable to attend their meetings. Laura then met her soul mate David D Brown Sr. and from that union they had two children David D. Brown Jr. and Crystal H. Brown.  She settled as a housewife for a while until she decided to work part time as a teacher's helper and assistant cook for the Sheltering Arms organization located in Harlem, New York and remained with the organization until she retired. Laura and David celebrated 42 years of marriage together until David's passing in August of 2013. She never remarried and remained a widow until she was called home.

Laura was an extrovert with an extreme passion and desire for life who loved to knit, sing, dance, party, and adored family gatherings. She was highly educated, also regarded and respected by family, friends, and the people of the community.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, David D Brown Sr.; sons, Gerald Carter, David D. Brown Jr.; daughters, Renee' Y Felton and Shirlene Gore; and granddaughter, Sharifa P. Jones.

She is survived by her children, Phillip Jones, Geffery Carter, Crystal H. Brown-Campbell and plethora of beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
