Mary Graves was born in Jasper County, South Carolina on May 26, 1949 to Albertha Graves. She was the oldest of four children.
Mary graduated from Ridgeland High School on May 23, 1971 in South Carolina. After finishing High School she relocated to the Bronx, New York where she would meet Douglas Bryant and from that union they had three beautiful children, Judy, Damien, and Emil Graves. Mary worked for the Parks Department and Harlem Hospital. She was an active parent who made sure her children completed their studies.
She was an avid music lover. Her favorite musical group was the Isley Brothers and James Earl Jones was her favorite actor. When she was not helping her kids with their homework, she would try her best to make sure they stayed out of trouble with the law. She touched many lives and will truly be missed.
Mary leaves to mourn her sons, Damien and Emil Graves; siblings, John Henry (Joy Graves), Theodore both of Salisbury Maryland, and Louvessa Stephens; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
