Shirley Jaudon

Shirley Jaudon was born on May 10, 1938 in Ashleyville Charleston, SC to the late Melissa and Louis Hamilton.

She attended school in South Carolina and graduated from Wallace High School.  In 1958 at the age of 19, Shirley moved to the Bronx where she met and married the love of her life Johnny Jaudon and from that union the Jaudon legacy was continued with the birth of Rodney Jaudon, Sharon Jaudon, Viola Jaudon and John Jaudon.

She worked at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan as an Administrative Assistant for many years.  She was a dedicated mother, sister, daughter, cousin and friend.  She was a very spiritual God fearing fun loving, sweet, nurturing, kind-hearted strong southern woman who enjoyed life cooking and being devoted to her family. 

Shirley leaves a legacy of protection, compassion, maternal devotion, wisdom, endurance and kinship.  She centered her passion into being the best provider, advocate and caretaker for every soul in need that entered her home.  Shirley enjoyed cooking, entertaining family and friends with her famous southern collard greens, baked macaroni and cheese, candy yams and hopping john rice.  Everyone who entered her home was met with a warm smile, hot meal and safe space to talk and just be themselves.  In the spirit of “Grandma” you just keep pushing even when you cannot find the strength because she would carry you through.

Shirley Jaudon departed this life on February 16, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Jaudon; parents, Melissa Hamilton and Louie Hamilton; sisters, Eartha Lee, Lonzetta, Evangeline, Theresa, Blanche and Carol; brothers, Norris, Harold and Louis.

Grandma Shirley leaves to honor and celebrate her life daughters, Sharon Jaudon and Viola Jaudon; sons, Rodney Jaudon and John Jaudon; grandchildren, Jay Jaudon, Darkisha Jaudon, Akeem Jaudon, Nicole Jaudon, Michael Jaudon, Donisha Campbell, Rodney Jr., Barbara Shante’ Jaudon, John Jaudon Jr., Vernell Jaudon and Andre Jaudon; great grandchildren, Taron Jackson, Taveon Jackson, Knight Simpson, Jay Jr., Seven Jaudon, Ashley Jaudon, Janiya Jaudon, Tyrick Williams and Harmony Bennett; step-sister, Earnie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.

2nd Timothy

I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished my course down here henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteous judge shall give me that day; and not to me only  but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Amen.

Sad as it is my Grandmother had to leave here to get her just reward for a job so well done.
