Terry Bennett was born on March 1, 1959 in New York City to proud parents, Ada and Joseph Bennett. Terry attended elementary school, P.S. 146, in New York City. He attended Junior High School 120 and Morris High School in the Bronx, NY. Terry's parents had him and his siblings in a Catholic church, attending three times a week. They could not go outside to play until they went to church. As he got older, he started to attend Baptist churches. He was a strong believer of God and prayed a lot. He was a Construction worker as well as a Window Mechanic for many years.
Terry’s girlfriend, Sarah Armwood, has been a part of his life for many years until his last days. Terry's nephew, Tyrone Bennett - better known as Poppa - spent a lot of time with him up until his very last breath. His friend English was a brother to him; they'd do everything together ever since they were teens. Terry has touched many lives.
His children were his pride and joy. He would talk to them like they were his best friends and they always had a lot of fun together. They have memories of him walking down the apartment hall humming and beatboxing on his way to the kitchen. His granddaughter Shamyra, aka his monkey, would always come home from school and sit with her grandpa while doing her homework to keep him company. Terry had a fun nickname for everyone; and made lasting memories everywhere he went. He really had an impact in the community.
Terry leaves to mourn his children, LaToya Bennett, Terry Bennett, Sherri Bennett, Tameka Bennett, Ebony Taylor, LaTanya Bennett, Anthony McMahon, Andre McMahon, Terry Bennett (The Youngest Terry), and Tametria Bennett; Grandchildren, Shamyra, Shatina, Jabre, Joshua, Jasiah, TJ, Fancy, Gavin, Tania-Autum, Shianne, Armani, Dayanni, Mahki, Emani, Alana, Taleyiah, Olivia, Naryah, Aaliyah and Taylor; siblings, EllaMae Benjamin, Rosa Young, Joey Bennett, Norma Bennett, Theresa Bennett, Betty and sister-in-law Blanch Bennett; along with a host of nieces and nephews. We pray he’s at rest with his mom and deceased siblings.
Terry, you will surely be missed. We love you and miss you. You will never be forgotten.
