Verlia McDowell

Verlia Mae McDowell Verlia Mae McDowell, daughter of the late George and Julia Davis Gardner was born February 20, 1936 in Florence County, South Carolina and departed this life March 20, 2020.

Verlia was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Ernest McDowell and to this union had three children who preceded her in death. Verlia relocated to New York City in 1956 where she was employed by Village Nursing Home for 38 years. Verlia was a long-time faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church where she served as a Trustee, Senior Choir member, Missionary, Deaconess, and a member of the Floral Club.

Deaconess McDowell leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Mrs Barbara McElveen, Mrs. Annette Nero and Ms. Delphine Gardner of Olanta, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Bernard McDowell, Bronx, NY, Deshawn McDowell, PA, Kesha McDowell and Donald McDowell, Yonkers, NY and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
